Comfort At My Table

Comfort At My Table, Milton

Few Sundays ago, MXM and myself went to Comfort at My Table for brunch to have a final catch-up for the year before his flight back to NZ. I have been here a couple of times and the first time was my birthday last year. Like the name of the cafe, it is comforting to eat here and the ambience is really nice. I would say that this place has more feminine touch than other places. Nevertheless, I still recommended it to MXM, hehe!

It was such a hot day! Therefore, MXM opted for an iced ginger tea instead of his usual coffee. Anything with ginger will make MXM happy. The tea was refreshing and thankfully for me (I'm not a huge fan of ginger), the flavour of the ginger and star anise was really subtle.

For myself, I ordered a chai latte. The first sip of the creamy, frothy chai was so blissful. I smiled to MXM and told him:

Me    :  'Wow, this is so good and creamy!'
MXM  :  'Did you asked for a skinny chai?'
Me    :   Oh crap! I forgot ....

Well, luckily I did not! Love the chai and now I am addicted to chai instead of my usual skinny flat white. :)

I usually order the same meal each time I visit CAMT and no exception that day. My favourite is their 'Eggs Benedict'.

Eggs Benedict - $12.80
thyme mushrooms, wilted spinach, blistered tomatoes, lemon hollandaise

The lemony hollandaise sauce is the reason why I like their eggs benedict so much. The addition of lemon makes the sauce lighter and tangier than others. The eggs were poached to perfection and the bread toasted well. I opted for mushrooms since I have tried it with leg ham and smoked salmon before.

MXM had the 'Nims' Eggs'. I told him that it is their signature dish.

Nims' Eggs - $11.80
poached eggs, bacon, pesto, banana chutney, roast tomato

One word: Delicious! Watching him eat his food, I wanted Nims' Eggs as well. The blend of savoury from the crispy bacons and pesto together with the sweetness of banana chutneys were well-balanced. Everything was perfect.

Too bad, we were both pretty full after that...

I love this place! The food is tasty and cheaper in comparison to other places. Service is good and love the ambience. If you have the chance, you should order a hot chocolate too. It comes in a large bowl accompanied by marshmallows and chocolate sauce on the sides. Yum!
