Hot off the press! This post is probably the fastest that I blogged about! 


Billy Kart Kitchen is the first breakfast spot I visited in 2014, actually, just this morning. It will probably be quite a while before my next spot as I will be in Mt Isa for three months. Let's pray and hope that I will survive the heat and the 'torture'. LOL!

Instead of packing and cleaning, I decided to treat myself with some food. Yup, I am quite a procrastinator! Billy Kart Kitchen is nestled in a quiet neighbourhood of Annerley and parking is ample. Tick!

 There was already a queue this morning but I do not have to wait long. Why? The food service is quick considering how busy the kitchen was. Steering clear from the sweet food, I was left with the options of corn fritters, eggs with King prawns and more eggs of your liking!

I decided to have the 'crispy corn fritters, grilled avocado, heirloom tomatoes' with a side serve of 'apple and cider pork sausage'.

The corn fritters did not disappoint at all! They were indeed crispy and delicious! The fritters were soft on the inside (I'm unsure whether there's any mashed potato or was it just the batter?) and the outside crispy! The fresh salad of different tomatoes, with basil and chilli definitely hit the spot and balance the dish. 

You can definitely taste some sweetness in the pork sausages possibly from the apple cider. The fat sausages were not dry and quite tasty.

Chai Tea 


Staying clear from coffee for now (as I will need them in a couple of weeks), I ordered their chai tea. I think it is probably one of the good chai out there. 

Well, not a bad start for 2014 eh?! Looking forward to more good cafes in Brisbane upon returning from Mt Isa....
PS I saw Mr O'Donoghue in the kitchen while paying at the cashier. Ahaha.. lucky day!

Tibetan Kitchen, West End Finally, I have the time to catch up on blogging! Yay! After a sweaty and tired workout in Urban Climb for an indoor rock-climbing (more than a month ago!) , the five of us made our way to Tibetan Kitchen for a late dinner. It was a Friday night and there was people bustling around Trang and its neighbour, Tibetan Kitchen. Haven't had the taste or any clues about Tibetan food, we were lucky because one of our company had spent his time in Tibet for a month. He did warned us beforehand that the food here wasn't as authentic as the food in Tibet though.  Anyway, after much contemplation, we ordered: Pakhora Onion Baje - 6.90 Crispy fried onion patties served with yoghurt & cucumber sauce The pakhora was all right. It could be better with more onions maybe? Newmarket Hotel

  Newmarket Hotel, Newmarket  Newmarket Hotel has been on our regular place to visit as it is quite a family friendly restaurant; and obviously quite close to home. It can get quite busy at times but as we usually dine when restaurants open (5 or 5.30pm) so it was not too bad. Parking is ample with the complex's undercover parking. What I love about Newmarket hotel is that they do have kid's meal and Grace always enjoy their chicken tenders. Yay! The kid's meal come with a drink (and the drink container can be brought home) and ice cream for dessert. No photo for her meal but we ordered it with steamed vegetables. If you are a seafood lover, give their calamari a go! They are beautifully crumbed and cooked just right. This is an entree size but you can upgrade to the main size. I tried their fish - special of the day; barramundi with some crispy pumpkin/potatoes and the 'sauce'. Honestly, I did not expect it, as this was more like a gravy sauce dish. The portion was

Milk Cafe, Ashgrove

  Milk Cafe, Ashgrove Throwback to late last year when we visited Milk Cafe in Ashgrove. It is just adjacent to Woolworths Ashgrove and you will not miss it. Plenty of parking is available in the complex. Famous for its milkshake, we did not order any as we get quite apprehensive when the kids are so high in sugar 😅. I could not remember the exact dish we had that day but the first dish was poached eggs with bacon, and cripsy potatoes with addition of haloumi. Little M dislikes cheese but she will gobble up the haloumi in no time. We had the pancakes as well and they were fluffy and soft. The girls thankfully enjoyed them, as sometimes they can be picky with their food.  The indoor setting is reasonably large and there is outdoor setting as well.
