Oishii Sushi Bar, Sunnybank Hills

Can anyone remember the heat wave we had in Brisbane on the 13th of January 2018? It was hot that day reaching probably up to 38C, and yet I was craving for some sushi. After much persuasion, I dragged Mr to Oishii Sushi Bar! Not sure whether it was our lucky or unlucky day as their AC broke down and they ran out of cold water, so they gave us free drinks instead! Talking about good service!

Their sushi menu is so tempting and I could have ordered more but we had a light lunch before heading out. They ran out of the 'Snake roll' that day, and we ended up ordering the 'Spider Roll', which is the tempura soft shell crab sushi. Mr, who is a fan of soft shell crab enjoyed it very much.

As for me who likes unagi, I ordered the 'Unatama Maki'. Unlike Kotobuki Sushi who includes cream cheese into their sushi, I much prefer the sushi roll here. They are just very well proportioned in terms of rice to meat ratio and you can definitely taste the freshness of their sushi. Just love it!

Our final sushi was the 'Himawari': deep fried marinated chicken with avacodo paste and wrapped with a thin layer of omelette instead of seaweed.

We really enjoyed the sushi here from Oishii. They were indeed oishii! Despite the warmer environment, it certainly did not deter us from trying their food and I am so glad we persisted... So worth it! I cannot wait to return and this place will certainly be a regular.

Tibetan Kitchen, West End Finally, I have the time to catch up on blogging! Yay! After a sweaty and tired workout in Urban Climb for an indoor rock-climbing (more than a month ago!) , the five of us made our way to Tibetan Kitchen for a late dinner. It was a Friday night and there was people bustling around Trang and its neighbour, Tibetan Kitchen. Haven't had the taste or any clues about Tibetan food, we were lucky because one of our company had spent his time in Tibet for a month. Newmarket Hotel

  Newmarket Hotel, Newmarket  Newmarket Hotel has been on our regular place to visit as it is quite a family friendly restaurant; and obviously quite close to home. It can get quite busy at times but as we usually dine when restaurants open (5 or 5.30pm) so it was not too bad. Parking is ample with the complex's undercover parking. What I love about Newmarket hotel is that they do have kid's meal and Grace always enjoy their chicken tenders. Yay! The kid's meal come with a drink (and the drink container can be brought home) and ice cream for dessert. No photo for her meal but we ordered it with steamed vegetables. If you are a seafood lover, give their calamari a go! They are beautifully crumbed and cooked just right. This is an entree size but you can upgrade to the main size. I tried their fish - special of the day; barramundi with some crispy pumpkin/potatoes and the 'sauce'. Honestly, I did not expect it, as this was more like a gravy sauce dish. The portion was

Milk Cafe, Ashgrove

  Milk Cafe, Ashgrove Throwback to late last year when we visited Milk Cafe in Ashgrove. It is just adjacent to Woolworths Ashgrove and you will not miss it. Plenty of parking is available in the complex. Famous for its milkshake, we did not order any as we get quite apprehensive when the kids are so high in sugar 😅. I could not remember the exact dish we had that day but the first dish was poached eggs with bacon, and cripsy potatoes with addition of haloumi. Little M dislikes cheese but she will gobble up the haloumi in no time. We had the pancakes as well and they were fluffy and soft. The girls thankfully enjoyed them, as sometimes they can be picky with their food.  The indoor setting is reasonably large and there is outdoor setting as well.
